Paris is a place for city dwellers, there is no doubt about that. It might be one of the most beautiful cities in the world but there is a lack of greenery compared to cities like London. One can wander around the bois de Vincennes or bois de Boulogne to be closer to nature but you often feel that most places get easily crowded.

Well, if you are looking for a quieter place, the Chalet des Iles might be a nice option. You will feel straight away on holidays when you board the boat that will take you to the island.

If you do not want to eat at the Chalet des Iles, you can still wander around the island for a euro or two, or even rent a small boat to explore the surroundings.

If you do feel like trying the restaurant, I suggest booking in advance as the place is quite popular especially on sunny weekends. You can enjoy the view while sitting on the terrace or stay inside the hunting lodge. The inside might remind you of one of those New England houses, while the outside has more of a Cap Ferret feel to it.

The Chalet itself is quite huge and you can rent some of the space indoors or outdoors for special corporate events, birthdays or weddings. As for the food, you will find lots of typical French specialties, like the melon and Parma ham as a starter or a really nice traditional vanilla millefeuille for dessert. The food might not surprise you but the meals were all very tasty.

When you come to the Chalet des Iles, you definitely feel far away from Paris for a few hours. A nice way to get a breath of fresh air without going too far away.

To access the place, you can take the metro line 9, get off at Rue de La Pompe and walk for about 15 minutes. If you have a car or a Velib, you can park your car or bike right at the top of the hill in front of the boat stop.
